Keilor Lodge

Keilor Lodge is a small residential suburb 19 km north-west of central Melbourne. Triangle shaped, it lies between Calder Freeway and Melton Highway.

Originally part of rural Keilor North, it too was rural until the 1980s when the Catholic church acquired part of the Keilor civic centre reserve at the intersection of the freeway and the highway. The Catholic Regional College opened there in late 1982. Housing subdivisions followed soon after, and the suburb’s street layout was completed by the early 1990s. Its development was a continuation of neighbouring Taylors Lakes (see separate entry). Keilor Lodge has above average numbers of families of Italian ancestry.

Keilor North has the Organ Pipes National Park, a public golf course and a proposed park adjoining the Maribyrnong River. Its population in 2011 was 84.
